Diving inspection
with impact

Underwater is often where the true condition of a structure can be found. At the Geestbrug in The Hague, our divers inspected areas no one else can access. Commissioned by Royal Haskoning, they accurately mapped the timber foundation piles and bascule piers, and took samples for further investigation.

The work required precision and coordination: shipping traffic had to continue, the bridge remained operational and our team worked in narrow, challenging areas. Thanks to our experience, certified equipment and smart working methods, we were able to carry out all inspections safely, without disrupting the city.

The results of the diving inspection provide an important basis for decisions on maintenance, renovation and load-bearing capacity analysis of the bridge. The project shows how W. SMIT combines technical expertise with practical execution, giving clients reliable and concrete information for their next steps.
